While primary school education is free in Tanzania, children have to bring a bag of grain to school if they want to have lunch. There are currently severe climate issues in East Africa at the moment, which means traditional farming techniques are leaving households with poor harvests, and no food to take to school.
Chilreach International project works to use modern techniques to enable schools to grow their own food and sustain themselves. You can redeem 450 TerraCycle points to help Childreach International provide maize, kale, spinach or Chinese cabbage seeds for half an acre of school farm.
You can help to provide more seeds to the schools in northern Tanzania by increasing the quantity in the shopping cart before you check out.
