Recycling your waste with KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL®
TerraCycle® and KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL®, have partnered to create KIMTECH® Nitrile Glove Recycling Programme - First recycling programme for disposable gloves.
This programme is only designed for users of KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL KIMTECH® gloves in Pharmaceutical or Bioscience Manufacturing Companies, Research Facilities or Universities. Disposable gloves that are available through retail stores and are used in household cannot be collected in this recycling programme.
Collection is easy and simply requires that used gloves are collected separately from other materials before they are then sent to TerraCycle® for recycling. Depending on the size of the collection site we have developed different collection models that allow locations with high usage as well as locations with low usage of gloves to take part in the programme. Any UK businesses interested in participating in the programme, should click the Register Interest button below and fill in the form. A KCP representative will contact you in due course.
Only KIMTECH® branded gloves are accepted. Disposable gloves of any other brand are not accepted by TerraCycle®. Furthermore, we cannot accept KIMTECH gloves that are contaminated, according to the European-wide list of wastes Regulation (AVV) as they are considered dangerous and must be disposed of properly.
Please note we cannot accept KIMTECH® nitrile gloves that are contaminated, according to the European-wide list of wastes Regulation (AVV) as they are considered dangerous and must be disposed of properly. These include:
The gloves are initially stored by our logistics partner. When we’ve collected a sufficient amount of disposable gloves from all the different participating companies in the KIMTECH® Nitrile Glove Recycling Programme, we start with the recycling process. We try to recycle the disposable gloves as locally as possible and with the available and most up-to-date technologies and infrastructures. The gloves made from Nitrile and Latex are processed using an extruder to produce plastic granules, which serves as a secondary raw material for new plastic products. Disposable gloves can be further processed in order to become the raw materials used to make the likes of park benches, waste bins, or watering cans.
